Aproveitando o aniversário de Freedie Mercury me lembrei desse vídeo antiquíssimo mas vale a pena ver de novo. Quando a Glória Maria estava começando na TV (ver período jurássico), quando só sabia uns "yes", "no", "hot-dog" e "the books on the table" e ler o que tava escrito no seu roteiro (e olhe lá) e não tinha a experiência(?) que tem hoje.

Para quem acha que é fácil virar jornalista, que é só fazer seu roteiro de perguntas em casa e sair disparando no entrevistado, só tenho uma coisa a dizer: esqueçam! Vai ter que ser muito ligeiro de pensamento pra não gaguejar nem ficar com cara de besta na frente de um entrevistado mais ligeiro de pensamento.

Feliz Aniversário ao gênio Freddie Mercury

Frederick Bulsara, ou apenas Freddie Mercury, dedicou boa parte de suas energias criativas ao Queen, mas tal era seu apetite para a música que não ele poderia apenas consagrar seu talento ao lado dos amigos Brian May, John Deacon e Roger Taylor. Nesse período em que Freddie se arriscou e presenteou o mundo do rock com os seus projetos de solo.

Natural da Tanzânia, a majestade do Queen contribuiu para o sucesso de sua banda, que superou Beatles e Elvis Presley, e fez do Queen a banda mais bem-sucedida na história da parada de sucessos do Reino Unido, e imortalizada nas memórias do livro “Guinness” dos recordes. Apesar de sua morte, a presença de Freddie Mercury nunca foi tão memorável. No dia 5 de setembro, será lançada nos EUA uma edição especial para comemorar seu aniversário de 60 anos. Para celebrar a data, foi editado também um novo disco e um DVD com a história e as músicas da vida do ex-vocalista dos Queen: "Love of Life Singer of Songs". A coletânea inclui trilhas raras, e destaca aqueles períodos em que Freddie canalizou todo o seu amor insaciável pela música. Além de alguns projetos pessoais, depoimentos de escritores e os performers que atearam fogo a sua imaginação.

Quando a maioria das pessoas acreditam que a carreira de solo de Freddie começou em 1985, com “Mr. Bad Guy”, no fato teve início muito mais cedo - em 1973, com suas versões para “I Can Hear Music” e “Goffin-King's Goin' Back”, dos Beach Boys, que estão em seu primeiro disco solo sob o pseudônimo de Larry Lurex.

O amor de Freddie pela música disco gerou “I Was Born To Love You” e “Living On My Own” - remixado em 1993, e rendeu a Freddie o prêmio Ivor Novello e o surpreendente sucesso sendo seu hit Nº 1. O amor de Freddie do theatre, e o admiration grande para seu primeiro idol do PNF, penhasco Richard, explicam por o tempo da trilha, a canção do título do musical bem sucedido do fim ocidental de Dave Clark em que o penhasco starred (a mostra, coincidentemente, jogou no theatre do dominion, agora o repouso a próprias da rainha despedaça o musical da batida, nós o balançará).

Embora tenha lançado somente os doid discos solo “Mr. Bad Guy” e “Barcelona”, há relatos de que Freddie planejava lançar um disco de músicas cover. Isso pode ter sido uma amostra do que viria depois, com o lançamento de um dos mais populares singles, uma versão para “The Great Pretender” dos Platters, lançado em 1987 e relançado em 1993.

Bissexual - o que só assumiu no último dia de vida -, chegou a viver com uma mulher, Mary Austin, durante sete anos. Mas Freddie não tinha via para estar casado e os palcos roubavam-lhe os tempos de lar. Exuberante, único, tão aclamado quanto criticado, era sobretudo diferente e não passava despercebido, escolhesse a imagem que escolhesse.

Freddie ainda teceu sua história com o diva espanhola da ópera, Montserrat Caballé. Desta união improvável, mas mágica, vieram “Barcelona”, a qual Freddie escreveu para a cidade de Montserrat e que se transformaram no tema para as Olimíadas de 1992.

Foi também com a presença desta artista que, na Suíça, foi inaugurada a estátua Freddie Mercury. Em Londres, em Novembro de 1991, o cantor admitiu ter contraído o vírus da AIDS e faleceu pouco tempo depois. Para a música, e para a humanidade, ficam o legado eterno de um mestre que mudou a história e o modo de se fazer rock!
